Juan Roberto Melendez , a man once on death row, is a nationally and internationally acclaimed speaker who has shared his remarkable personal story with hundreds of thousands of people at high schools, colleges, law schools and faith communities throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and in Latin America.
It was astounding to see a man having gone through the horrors of Death Row be as lively and as positive as he was. As he recounted his story to us, the injustices and discrimination of the system, the lack of empathy, the sentiment of losing one’s humanity, we all were left emotional.
It was amazing to be in his company and enjoy his wonderful sense of humor even in the midst of a story that brings no laughter. We are thankful for the 90+ students that were present and engaged during the event, this was a great start to many more events
